Jim Khan is a specialist in the field of minimally invasive (laparoscopic, robotic) surgery of colorectal cancer. He learned mastership from the leading surgeons of the world-studied the technique of colorectal operations in Mayo Rochester clinic (the U.S.A.), learned the technique of performing operations for rectum from Professor Bill Hield (Great Britain), robotic surgery- from Professor Kim in Korea. In Portsmouth he takes an active part in the process of medical education and clinical training on different basic and advanced laparoscopic courses. Jim is the Head teacher at the University of Eastern England, Cambridge and is included into the staff of Queen College of surgeons in Edinburgh at the faculty of surgical trainers, is Member of American Society of colorectal surgeons.
Jim Khan has been a national trainer of consulting laparoscopic colorectal surgeons. It has been a program, held by the Department of Public Health of Great Britain for advancing studying and learning of laparoscopic colorectal cancer. He is also one of the leading surgeons of Europe working in the field of robotic surgery. His research interests include clinical investigations, based on the results of performing laparoscopic and robotic operations for the large intestine-it is related to the huge quality of patients, functional results after inferior anterior resection, modern management of diseases of pelvic floor.
At present he is a teacher at VIMARS Institute, at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, ICENI Centre (Kolchester) in the field of laparoscopic and robotic colorectal surgery.
