After returning back from the U.S.S.R. in 1986 Bernd Boyar became one of the pioneers of laparoscopic surgery in Germany. One can say that the professional development of Bernd Boyar as a specialist took place parallel to the development of laparoscopic surgery in the world and in Germany. Within the period 1986-2002 he performed 832 diagnostic and 1823 laparoscopic surgical interferences, including 150 minilaparoscopic operations, using 2 mm optics and 2 mm instruments. Within that period 1022 diagnostic and 154 surgical hysteroscopies were performed .

In 1996 Bernd Boyar performed the first in Europe laparoscopic pelvic lymphadissection in combination with the radical hysterectomy. Within the next 6 years he performed more than 30 complex combined operations of this kind. Besides, in 1996 Bernd Boyar performed the first in Germany robotic gynecological operation in the gynecological clinic of Greifswald. There, in Greifswald, until 2002 Bernd Boyar was making his basic techniques of microsurgery in gynecology, laparoscopic techniques in oncological surgery, minilaparoscopic operations more perfect; he took an active part in elaboration, testing and advancing new instruments for laparoscopic surgery and operation systems.

Since 2002 Professor Bernd Boyar has been the Head of the gynecological department of the clinic of miniinvasive surgery (Klinik fur Minimal Invasive Chirurgie) in Berlin. It is one of the biggest private clinics of High Tech Surgery in Germany. The clinic is the sample of managing surgical treatment, using Fast Track Surgery technique. Actually, the number of hospital beds is only 44, but annually 3,500-4,000 people come for diagnostics and treatment..

The clinic of miniinvasive surgery is a reference –clinic for the world leading company Karl Storz that elaborates equipment for laparoscopic surgery. For example, in miniinvasive clinic MIC they have established totally integrated laparoscopic operation room OR1, that has become the standard for managing the surgical process of any big modern surgical clinic.

Annually, under the guidance of Professor Bernd Boyar - and he himself takes part in it – 1,500-1,800 in-patients get surgical treatment for various diseases:

• endoscopic laparoscopic surgery, including hysteroresectoscopy;
• gynecological abdominal (laparotomic) operation;
• surgical treatment of urine incontinence;
• diagnostics and surgical treatment of gynecological tumours;
• diagnostics and treatment of non-inflammatory diseases of genitals in females;
• surgical treatment of infertility.

In total, about 95 % of all operations are performed laparoscopically or hysteroscopically, using miniinvasive ways. The most wide-spread operations, performed in MIC clinic are the following ones: laparoscopic supravaginal gysterectomy (LASH), laparoscopic sacrovaginopexy for genital prolapse.

In addition to his activity in performing operations and consulting patients, Professor Bernd Boyar is invited by numerous medical schools and clinics to deliver lectures on endoscopic surgery as he is guru, Live-sirgeon of the highest class. He can not only perform on operation for huge amount of spectators-250-500 doctors, but actively communicate with doctors of different specialities: gynecologists, surgeons, urologists and therapeutists.

During his professional career Professor Bernd Boyar took part in more than 250 national and International simposia, congresses in 30 countries of the world; and he delivered his reports in German, English and Russian.

Besides, Professor Bernd Boyar has been fulfilling his scientific and clinical work as adjunct-professor and the main consultant at the clinic and polyclinic of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Ernst-Moritz –Arndi University in Greifswald, Germany, since 2001, after his doctorate.

Starting from 2009 Professor Bernd Boyar is a Member of Administration and Treasury of the Association of Gynecological Endoscopy of the German Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (DGGG). He is also a Member of Administration of the European Society of Gynecological Surgery, he bears responsibility for the International collaboration. Professor Bernd Boyar is also a Member of other International Professional Associations: American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL), European Society for Gynecological Endoscopy (ESGE), Association of Hospital Head Doctors of Germany, etc.

Once Professor Bernd Boyar was a Member of the Expert Commission that was elaborating managing standards for the system of Public Health of Germany in the field of miniinvasive surgery in gynecology.
